Stop overpaying for imitations. Bhat Brothers is a National Award-winning Kashmir manufacturer with a showroom in Okhla, New Delhi — offering 100% pure cashmere Pashmina shawls at factory prices with complete authenticity.
Delhi NCR is flooded with shops claiming to sell "original pashmina" — but the reality is that the vast majority are selling polyester blends, machine-made imitations, or low-grade wool passed off as cashmere. Without a reliable source, buyers routinely pay thousands of rupees for fabric worth a fraction of the price.
Genuine Pashmina is made from the fine undercoat of Changthangi goats native to the high-altitude regions of Ladakh and Nepal. The fibre is incredibly delicate — typically 12–16 microns in diameter, compared to regular wool at over 40 microns. This rarity and the labour-intensive weaving process are what make authentic Pashmina genuinely valuable.
The safest approach in Delhi NCR is to buy directly from a Kashmir-connected manufacturer who understands the entire process — from fibre sourcing to finished product — and stands behind every piece they sell.

Genuine Pashmina feels unmistakably soft against the skin — softer than any standard wool and with zero prickle. If it feels rough, stiff, or scratchy, it is not pure cashmere.
A genuine Pashmina shawl or stole can be drawn through a standard finger ring without snagging, thanks to its ultra-fine fibre. This cannot be replicated by synthetic blends or coarser wools.
With the seller's permission, burn a single thread from an inconspicuous edge. Pure Pashmina smells of burning hair and crumbles to fine ash — just like human hair. Synthetic fibres melt, smell of plastic, and form hard beads.
Authentic Pashmina is paradoxically light in weight yet exceptionally warm. If a "pashmina" shawl feels heavy or fails to provide warmth quickly against skin, question its authenticity.
Handwoven Pashmina has subtle, natural irregularities that testify to human craftsmanship. Machine-made fabric looks artificially uniform. The fringe should be hand-twisted, not heat-sealed or machine-cut.
Reputable manufacturers provide a certificate of authenticity with every piece. Ask the seller direct questions: Where is this from? What is the fibre percentage? How was it woven? Evasive answers are a red flag.
Prices reflect the actual time, labour, and raw material costs involved. Any offer significantly below these ranges almost certainly involves synthetic fibres or machine production.

A well-maintained Pashmina shawl lasts decades. Follow these steps to protect your investment and keep every piece looking beautiful for years to come.
Use cool water and a small amount of mild shampoo or baby wash. Never use harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners, as these degrade the delicate cashmere fibre.
After washing, gently press excess water out by pressing the shawl between two clean towels. Never wring or twist — this distorts the weave and stretches the fabric permanently.
Lay the shawl flat on a clean, dry surface away from direct sunlight. Never hang it while wet — the weight of the water will cause the fabric to stretch unevenly.
Fold and store in a breathable cotton bag. Place cedar balls or dried lavender nearby — moths are especially attracted to natural cashmere fibres, particularly in Delhi NCR's climate.
For spills, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth — never rub. For stubborn stains, take the piece to a professional dry cleaner experienced with delicate natural fibres.
Do not iron directly on Pashmina. If pressing is needed, use a cool iron over a damp cloth placed on top of the shawl to gently remove creases without damaging fibres.
